25 restaurant TikTok and Reels ideas that actually fill tables
August 12, 2026 · 8 min read
The hardest part of restaurant social is not editing, it is standing in your kitchen at 2pm with no idea what to point the phone at. This is a working list. Every idea below can be shot on a phone between rushes, needs no crew, and maps to a specific job: get reach, trigger a craving, build trust, or drive a booking.
Reach: videos that get shown to people who have never heard of you
Reach content wins on the first second. A close, loud, high contrast moment stops the thumb before anyone reads a word.
- The cheese pull, the sauce pour, the knife through the crust, shot 20cm away in slow motion.
- Flat top sizzle at full volume, no music for the first second.
- A single dish being built from empty plate to finished, cut to eight fast beats.
- "POV: you asked for extra spicy" with the chili going in.
- The last portion of the day, filmed as it goes out the door.
- A 3 second before and after: raw ingredient, then plated dish.
- Somebody's genuine first bite reaction, filmed at the table with permission.
Craving: videos that make locals hungry right now
- The steam shot: lid off, steam rises, hold for two seconds.
- Slow pull of a noodle, taco, or slice out of frame.
- A drink build from ice to garnish, one continuous shot.
- Sound only close up: crunch, sizzle, pour, glass on wood.
- The tray shot: the full order laid out as it lands on the table.
- "Order this if you like X" comparing two dishes side by side.
Trust: videos that turn scrollers into regulars
People pick restaurants they feel they already know. Faces and process do that faster than food shots alone.
- Meet the chef: 15 seconds on one dish they are proud of.
- Prep at 7am, the part customers never see.
- Where an ingredient comes from, filmed at the market or the delivery door.
- The story behind one menu item, told in one take.
- A staff pick of the week, with the person who picked it.
- Answering a real review or DM on camera.
Bookings: videos that end with an ask
- Table for two at golden hour, ending on "book tonight".
- The lunch special with the price on screen and the cutoff time.
- A walkthrough of the room so people know what they are walking into.
- "Bring this to the counter" with a code on the end card.
- Private events and large tables: show a full table, not an empty one.
- A weekly recurring night, filmed once and reposted every week.
How to use this list without burning out
Chef Social is built around that loop: you upload the clips once, and the edit, captions, hashtags and post times are handled for you.
- 1Pick three ideas, not 25. Shoot all three in one 20 minute block.
- 2Film 4 to 6 short clips per idea. Extra angles are what make an edit look intentional.
- 3Keep everything in one footage library so a slow Tuesday can be built from last month's shots.
- 4Post the same idea again in six weeks with a different dish. Almost nobody remembers.
The short version
Shoot in blocks, keep a library, and rotate between reach, craving, trust and booking videos instead of posting the same food shot every week.
