Privacy policy

Last updated 2026. Chef Social turns restaurant footage into short form video. This page explains exactly what we hold and why.

Who we are

Chef Social operates chefsocial.co. You can reach us any time at hello@chefsocial.co.

What we collect

  • Account details: your name, email address and password, which is stored hashed by our authentication provider. We never see your password.
  • Restaurant details you give us: business name, address, cuisine, brand colours, menu items, offers and anything you type into your Content Playbook.
  • Footage and media: the video clips and photos you upload, the frames we extract from them and the finished videos we render for you.
  • Connected account data: if and when you connect a social account, we store the access token and the account identifier needed to publish on your behalf. We never ask for or store your social passwords.
  • Billing data: your plan, credit balance and payment history. Card details are handled by Stripe and never touch our servers.
  • Product usage: basic logs, error reports and page views, used to keep the service working and to measure our own marketing.

How we use it

  • To create, render and deliver your videos and captions.
  • To run your account, credits, reminders and billing.
  • To publish or schedule posts, only when you ask us to.
  • To send service email such as render ready notices and post reminders.
  • To keep the service secure and to fix faults.

We do not sell your data and we do not share your footage with other customers.

Who we share it with

We use a small set of processors to run the product: our cloud database, storage and authentication provider, our AI providers for writing captions and reviewing footage, Stripe for payments, and our email provider for notifications. Each one only receives what it needs to do its job.

How long we keep it

  • Raw uploaded footage is kept in your footage library and cleaned up automatically after 90 days of no use, with an email warning first.
  • Finished videos, captions and project history stay in your account until you archive them or close the account.
  • Billing records are kept as long as the law requires.
  • Connected account tokens are deleted the moment you disconnect the account.

Deleting your data

You can delete individual clips, videos and projects at any time from inside the app, and disconnect any connected account from Settings. To close your account and have everything erased, email hello@chefsocial.co from the address on the account. We action deletion requests within 30 days.

Your rights

You can ask for a copy of your data, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. If you are in the EU or UK you also have the right to object to processing and to complain to your local data protection authority.

Cookies and measurement

We use cookies to keep you signed in and, on our marketing pages, a measurement pixel to see which ads bring restaurants to us. Nothing about your footage or your customers is shared with an advertising platform.

Children

Chef Social is a business tool and is not intended for anyone under 18.

Changes

If we change this policy in a material way we will email account holders before it takes effect.
